New Ajax Systems Surveillance Cameras Deliver Full-Color Night Vision
Ajax Systems has introduced three new surveillance cameras with hybrid illumination, designed to solve a common security challenge — capturing crucial details in full color at night.
The new BulletCam HL, TurretCam HL, and DomeCam Mini HL combine infrared (IR) and white light to deliver color imaging even in low-light conditions. They offer better image quality, more accurate object recognition, and the ability to visually deter intruders at residential and commercial sites.
How It Works
When motion or an object is detected, the devices switch from infrared to white light, transmitting color footage instead of black-and-white. This feature helps identify vehicle details, clothing colors, and other visual markers that may be harder to notice in IR mode.
The sudden switch to white light can also serve as a deterrent, signaling to intruders that the camera is recording and they’ve been detected.

The cameras combine motion detection with AI-based object recognition, distinguishing between people, animals, and vehicles. Detection zones can be configured in the Ajax apps with pixel-level precision, reducing false alarms and saving storage space.
The new cameras can record continuously, based on scenarios, or only upon detecting movement or a specific object — for example, when a person enters a restricted area. These settings ensure only important events are captured, reducing unnecessary recordings and making review easier.
AI data processing occurs directly on the camera, ensuring fast response and full data privacy, while eliminating the need for additional equipment or subscriptions.
Users can also configure privacy zones, masking selected areas of the frame in both live view and archived recordings. For example, if a safe falls within the camera’s field of view, it can be masked while keeping the rest of the scene visible. This guarantees sensitive information remains private.

Specifications
The new hybrid-illumination cameras are available in three form factors. BulletCam HL and TurretCam HL provide illumination up to 50 meters, while DomeCam Mini HL reaches up to 15 meters due to its design.
The lineup includes several sensor and lens combinations:
- 5 MP CMOS sensors with 3K resolution (2880 × 1620 px)
- 8 MP CMOS sensors with 4K resolution (3840 × 2160 px)
Each model is equipped with either a 2.8 mm or 4 mm lens, resulting in twelve camera variations. All models are available in black and white, blending seamlessly into any environment.
2.8 mm lenses offer a 100°–110° wide viewing angle, ideal for open areas. 4 mm lenses narrow the angle to 75°–85°, providing greater detail in focused zones. 5 MP versions strike a balance between image quality and efficiency. 8 MP versions are suited for cases requiring maximum detail.

All models support True WDR technology, ensuring stable image clarity in challenging lighting. This feature dynamically adjusts brightness and contrast, improving visibility in dark areas while preserving details in bright zones.
The cameras are housed in dust- and water-resistant casings (IP65 rating), with IK08 impact protection, making them suitable for outdoor installation and areas with higher risk of physical damage.
Each camera has a microSD slot (up to 256 GB) for local storage and a built-in digital microphone supporting standard audio codecs: G.711 ULAW/ALAW, G.722, and G.726.
Earlier in April, Ajax Systems introduced the IndoorCam — a Wi-Fi surveillance camera featuring an infrared motion sensor.
