“Emilia Pérez” and “The Brutalist” Win Oscars — Both Films Used Ukrainian Voice Technology from Respeecher

Emilia Pérez and The Brutalist were among the standout winners at this year’s Academy Awards, each taking home multiple Oscars. Notably, both films incorporated technology from the Ukrainian company Respeecher — a fact confirmed by the company’s CEO, Oleksandr Serdiuk.
“In 2024, Respeecher completed over 60 projects. Two of them won Golden Globes. Four were nominated for Oscars — Better Man, Alien: Romulus, Emilia Pérez, and The Brutalist. And now two of them are Oscar winners!” Serdiuk shared on Facebook.
Emilia Pérez set a new record with 13 nominations and ultimately won two awards: Best Supporting Actress for Zoë Saldaña and Best Original Song. The Brutalist received 10 nominations and came away with three Oscars: Best Actor (Adrien Brody), Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score.
Respeecher specializes in AI-powered voice synthesis technology that allows one person to speak in another’s voice.
As previously reported by Scroll Media, the company’s innovation was used in The Brutalist to enhance the authenticity of the characters. Notably, it helped Adrien Brody refine his Hungarian accent, adding a deeper level of realism to his performance.
