Uninterrupted Internet, AI and AR-Based Services, and Dark Fiber: How “Agromat” is Going Digital

Video Consultations Without Store Visits, AI, and Augmented Reality Services: “Agromat” Goes Beyond Offline Retail

This case explores how “Agromat” built a resilient IT infrastructure, developed AI-based services, and leveraged telecom solutions to transform its operations.

“Agromat” is a national retail chain founded in 1993, with over 30 stores across Ukraine.

In 2023, the company received multiple awards for its AI-driven projects. Today, the leading retail chain is supported by a team of more than 1,500 employees.

From Offline Sales to AI and AR-Based Services
A decade ago, retail relied primarily on offline stores. Today, AI and augmented reality services are revolutionizing the customer experience, and the “Agromat” team has made significant strides in this direction.

Now, choosing tiles or bathroom fixtures for your home is possible from the comfort of your couch. With an augmented reality service, customers can not only explore the store’s range but also “try it on” in their own bathrooms.

“ViSoft AR is designed to reshape how Ukrainian consumers select tiles and bathroom fixtures. Customers can now virtually place their chosen tiles in their own spaces using just a smartphone. All it takes is selecting a product and downloading the free ViSoft AR app, and voila — the tiles are on your walls,” explains the IT department at Agromat.

If questions arise, a video consultant is available in real time to assist. Alternatively, customers can browse a collection of ready-made interior solutions crafted by professional designers.

To ensure the seamless operation of these services and offline stores, dozens of IT solutions are required. These support the functionality of stores, warehouses, pickup points, and customer access to corporate service networks.

How Telecom Services Support “Agromat” During Wartime
“Agromat” relies on cloud technologies and telecom services, such as uninterrupted internet, fail-safe data transmission channels, and dark fiber, to address its IT infrastructure challenges.

In recent years, the company has restructured its IT systems around cloud solutions, enabling flexible scalability and reliable performance. However, connectivity is critical for accessing these cloud services, especially during blackouts. Every hour of website or store downtime could result in significant losses.

“Today, a successful and resilient business is unimaginable without uninterrupted IT solutions. Internet, data transmission channels, and cloud infrastructure are the foundation for operating 24/7. Downtime is critical for any retail business. Reliability is the key to smooth operations,” says Serhii Romanenko.

GigaTrans specialists have connected “Agromat” stores to high-speed internet and provided two leased dark fiber channels. These services ensure that operations continue even during power outages, establish high-speed connections between two client sites and a remote data center, and safeguard against unauthorized access.

Digital Transformation Amid War
Digitalization is inevitable for both business and everyday life, as it drives competitiveness, customer orientation, and modernization.

Reliable internet is indispensable for this process, which is why “Agromat” depends on GigaTrans as a trusted IT partner.

“Reliable communication channels, quick incident response times, and predictable issue resolution are the key criteria we used to select our telecom provider. We also valued ease of collaboration, from invoice processing to the team’s professionalism and their commitment to solving problems,” comments Serhii Romanenko.

These factors have kept “Agromat” partnering with GigaTrans for over six years, with their service reliability further proven during wartime.
