Sensor Innovation offers a modern system that combines hardware sensor data with software algorithms to inform users about issues (such as water leaks) at industrial and residential sites. These sensors provide monitoring of humidity and temperature states, accounting for the influence of the weather on sensor data. This empowers users to respond in real-time and swiftly intervene, effectively preventing damage caused by water leaks.

Challenges

Sensor Innovation already had a working product when they hired our team. Still, it lacked an intuitive user interface and more efficient operation functionality. The challenge was to completely revamp and improve the UI and add new functionality, including displaying data directly on a building’s virtual blueprint.

Role of PMO

Proper project management is crucial for fixed-price projects such as Sensor Innovations. Understanding the client’s needs and the project manager’s effort helped us quickly find engineers who matched the requirements. Besides, the project manager used all current tools for time tracking, reporting, and task management to ensure smooth communication and delivery of results on time and within budget.

Job done

Our multidisciplinary team, which included a product manager, a UX/UI designer, and two full-stack developers, collaborated to redesign the platform dashboard and incorporate new essential features. Our primary objective was to enhance the convenience of sensor management for users.

Implemented features

Dashboard

The new refreshed dashboard now simplifies managing company information, user accounts, building details, and connected devices. It enables streamlined creation and editing of company and user profiles, offers comprehensive construction parameter input for buildings, and provides an overview of connected sensors and devices for efficient monitoring and maintenance.

Buildings map

Our customizable building map helps users create a virtual representation of the sensors’ location and shows the status of each sensor. The platform also provides an interactive process of adding, moving, replacing or deleting a new sensor or gateway.

Buildings Plot Details

This feature encompasses a comprehensive overview of sensor conditions at a specific location, providing vital information beyond the standard weather pointers. It includes details on relative humidity, temperature, and other essential factors, giving users a thorough understanding of the environment within the building plot.

Buildings reports

The Report function we’ve added allows users and service companies to more effectively monitor the state of the sensors, analyze their performance and collect other necessary data like periodic or annual weather or moisture reports.

Outcomes

The upgraded version of the Sensor Innovation platform outperforms its predecessor in all parameters – from the streamlined UI to overall performance. Adding a weather timeline decreased the number of false alarms, while the virtual building maps helped to optimize coverage and find possible blind spots. 

Also, we carried out site optimization for mobile devices and tablets. Now it correctly reacts to screen size changes, displaying all the data and allowing users to easily edit and add new sensors in a usual and convenient format.
