Lumio | Stress-free money management app for couples

Lumio is a stress-free money management app for couples that helps modern couples keep track of all their expenses, cut the cost of household bills, and save together.
For itjet, it’s been a journey of 6 years, since the very first line of code till these days.
Delivered results
- Raised £1mn pounds
- More than 80,000 users on iOS & Android
- New Lumio 2.0 release led to §400k in new investments
- £2.5bn+ transactions analyzed via the app
Challenges & Solutions
Tight budget and strict deadlines
- We needed to meet tight budget constraints and strict deadlines while developing a feature-rich MVP to attract investments from Angel Investors.
Fast and stable application with a wide range of functionality
- To create a fast and stable application with a wide range of functionality, we needed to find a solution to improve the app’s speed and stability while also expanding development options for additional features.
The necessity to find a solution to meet users’ expectations with the ability to add/edit data for users
- We decided to build an admin panel for the application from scratch using React.js and Redux and had to migrate Lumio to another account aggregator.
*This step required a lot of changes in data structure, as all data in the application should be from the admin panel.
Approach & Outcomes
Built the “Nudgg” web panel, which helped the project get its first investors
- At the first stage of our cooperation, we built the “Nudgg” web panel where users could perform all authorization actions to connect their bank accounts and list all transactions from different banks.
As a result, the project got its first investors.
Migrated all web solutions and delivered the first version of the app to kick off a new investment round
- After deciding to migrate all web solutions to an app, we delivered the first version (React to React Native), and subsequently initiated a new investment round.
Researched market and migrated app to Moneyhub for account aggregation
- We conducted a deep investigation of the market (market research) and then fully migrated the app to a new account aggregation service Moneyhub (instead of Yodlee).
As a result, Lumio became faster and more stable and got more functionality development options.
App releases for iOS and Android
- After multiple redesigns, extensive bug fixing, and thorough polishing, the app was released for both iOS and Android.
Throughout the development process with React Native, we implemented end-to-end testing using the automation tool Detox, significantly reducing the time required for manual testing.
